Whether you’ve never used a robotic lawnmower or are looking to upgrade, I’ve outlined some of the best robot lawn mowers currently available. The factors that went into choosing the best robot mowers on the market are technology, efficiency, and price. You can check out the comparison table to get an overview of each model or read the review for each mower below.
Robomow RM400 Robotic Cordless Electric Lawn Mower with Docking Station, 25-Inch
The obvious benefit of having a robotic lawn mower is getting a nice-looking lawn without having to do the work. There are other benefits besides the comfort of knowing you are using an eco-friendly product (good for you!).
The Robomow RM400 is one of the larger robot mowers at 25 inches in width. It can cut lawns up to 4500 square feet on a full charge. It is highly efficient and easy on your lawn. With many traditional push mowers, even electric ones, you have to vary your cutting pattern to avoid damage. The Robomow RM400 uses smart technology using random cutting patterns making your lawn look fabulous minus the damage.
Setting up the Robomow is easy. There is a boundary wire included, and you set up the wire around the perimeter of your lawn, program the robotic mower, and watch it go to work. You can program the days and times you want the RoboMow to cut your grass, and then when it’s finished, it goes back to its docking station for charging.
The Robomow has a waterproof design and uses a rain-sensor to send the RoboMow back to the dock if it is raining. Another safety feature is the tilt sensor. In the event the RoboMow gets tilted, the blade will automatically stop rotating.
With the Robomow, you don’t have to worry about grass clippings. It cuts grass into fine clippings and distributes them all across the lawn. The clippings decompose and provide much-needed nutrients to the grass. This helps your lawn flourish, strengthening the root system and protects your lawn against insects, disease, and even drought. This system allows you to water your lawn less (by up to 85% less water will be needed).
One really cool feature I love about this robot mower comes with an alarm system to prevent theft! Another cool feature is remote control mowing. If you want to do a little mowing without working up a sweat, you can use the included remote control. This also helps if you need to move the mower into the garage, for example.
The Robomow RM400 is among my top picks for the best robotic lawnmower. Currently, you can purchase the RoboMow from Amazon through the following. It comes with a 2-year warranty on the unit and a 1-year warranty on the battery.
Robomow RL850 Robotic Cordless Electric Lawn Mower, 21-Inch
The Robomow RL850 is a bit smaller than the RM400 unit. The RL850 measures are 21 inches wide. However, the RL850 can mow lawns up to 10,800 square feet on a full charge, and it features a 3 blade cutting system.
As with the previous model, the RL850 comes with a boundary wire. You can set the wire around the perimeter of your lawn, and the robotic mower is ready to go.
The RL850 also uses grasscycling technology, providing much-needed nourishment to your lawn and helps to reduce your carbon footprint. Did you know that many gas-powered mowers produce as many pollutants in one hour as 40 late model cars?
As the RL850 has a 3 blade cutting system, you can choose from different length settings. The high-cut blades allow grass to be cut from 1.75 to 3.25 inches. The low-cut blades can cut from 1 to 2.5 inches. I should also mention the RL850 cuts at nearly twice the speed of a traditional gas-powered mower.
Like the previous model, the RL850 also has a rain sensor, anti-theft alarm system, remote control, and shuts off if the unit gets tilted. Unlike the previous model, the RL850 has bumpers with a built-in sensor to locate and help the unit avoid obstacles.
This robotic lawn mower is a little bit more expensive than the previous model but is well worth it. Currently, you can purchase the Robomow RL850 from Amazon through the following link, and you better hurry. As of this writing, there were only 3 left in stock!
The next robotic mower we will look at is the Empower. It has a lot of cool features similar to the previous models, and it looks really cool!
Imower Automatic Robot Mower
The Imower robotic lawn mower takes automatic mowing technology to the next level. The Imower can adjust patterns and mowing speed based on the length and density of the grass. In really thick grass, it will spiral outwards to ensure a consistent cut.
A collision sensor helps the Imower change patterns in a collision with a rock or tree. It will reverse and mow in a different direction. It also has a rain sensor that will send the unit back to the charging station if it rains.
Imower will return to its unit for recharging if it senses the battery is running low. Once it has charged back up, it will continue as scheduled and complete the job. Like the other models, the Imower can be programmed to mow at specific times or days.
As far as theft protection, the Imower also has a built-in alarm, and it will not start without the remote control. This is a great deterrent for would-be thieves. The setup of this unit is the same as the previous models.

The final robot mower we will look at is the LawnBott LB1500 SpyderEVO; say that 10 times fast!
LawnBott LB1500 SpyderEVO Robotic Lawn Mower
The LawnBott is extremely lightweight at only 25 lbs. It can cut lawns up to 10,000 square feet on a full charge. Set up is the same as the previous models with the boundary wire. However, many customers report burying the wire underground (not necessary on all models but recommended on this one) around the perimeter is more efficient. This, of course, is quite a bit of work but can reduce the chance of having a damaged wire.
There are a few things I don’t like about this robotic lawnmower. Don’t get me wrong, it works as advertised, but it lacks in a few areas.
Unlike the other models, the LB1500 does not come with remote control. I personally feel a remote control is a must with robot mowers. It also doesn’t come with a charging station (you can buy one separately). After it is done mowing, you have to pick it up and then plug it in to charge.
The LB1500 also does not have a rain sensor which is pretty important depending on where you live. There are safety features, however, such as a bump sensor and an instant shut-off feature.
This is pretty much your basic robotic lawn mower without all the features of the previous models. Why did I include this model in my choice of best robotic lawnmowers? For one, it does a great job of mowing. For two, the price is meager.
While the LB1500 can’t compete with the other models as far as features, it is efficient and cuts great. You can purchase the LB1500 robotic lawn mower from Amazon through the following link.
Final Thoughts on Robotic Mowers
Depending on the lawn you have to maintain, any of these mowers could be a great fit. If you want to save a little money and don’t mind doing a little work, I think the LB1500 is a great choice. If you want all the features and the absolute best robotic lawnmower, I recommend the RL850 or RM400, which are my top two picks.
As technology advances were sure to see more advanced robotic lawn mowers with great features. I will continue to update this list as needed. Buyer’s Guide
alone is the focal point of many gardens, but keeping it in shape and looking good can take time. Hugely popular in Europe. Robotic lawnmowers are now catching on here in a big way. Robotic mowers work within the confines of a hidden boundary wire, cut the grass little, and often drop the clippings down into the grass.
The lawn always looks neat and tidy, and the clippings feed the grass. They are powered by rechargeable lithium-ion batteries and are fully automatic, parking themselves to recharge. Robotic mowers free up time are quiet and unobtrusive and emission-free, but they are expensive. Plus, they don’t see that every garden design needs an outside power source and careful installation.
Loans must also be kept clear of clutter which could damage the mower, and edges and awkward corners where the mower can’t meet will still need trimming manually. There’s an extensive choice of models on the market with prices starting at around 600 pounds and going up to over 2000 pounds. They come in sizes to see anything from small loans up to spaces of about 5000 meters squared and can have a variety of features such as weather sensors, GPS navigation, and smart connectivity.
In this Buyer’s Guide, we take you through the key points to consider when choosing a robotic mode. First, you need to ensure that your garden layout and lawn will suit robot robots. Summer models can tackle multiple areas, but different levels will require more than one charging station. Mo can’t jump. Very narrow passages can only be dealt with by certain models. And if you have slopes check, it can cope with a gradient. Finally, a bumpy or uneven lawn must be made even first, or the mower may cut the boundary way where it’s not flush to the ground. Correct installation is essential for success. Many models include installation by a dealer and the price, or ask your local dealer to quote for the cost of installing it for you.
They will take the time to assess your lawn use a cable air to lay the boundary wire for you, including taking around any obstacles such as trees, Island beds, and drain covers and show you how to program and operate the keypad. Even if your garden is small and simple, make sure you find the mower easy to program and to adjust the height of cut mowers that needs setting up herself. Come with clear instruction booklets, and helpful videos are also available online.
But these must be followed precisely for the mower to run correctly. The mower charges in a docking station. And this needs to be cited in a level shady spot with mains power close by; most must also have a clear area all around them, usually at least two meters in front and one meter to the sides. And all of this can considerably restrict where you place. It may well not be in your ideal spot. Ensure you buy a mower large enough to cope with your load by checking the battery size, run time, and charge time.
Some models have connectivity, and this can make the mower easier to program. You can use a mobile device rather than bending down over the keyboard. It also gives you the ability to check your motor when you’re away and to track it if it’s stolen. And if you’re not physically able to garden, it also puts you back in control.
Check the security features that suit your needs. Some require a PIN code to start the mower, but others include lift sensors and alarms and a GPS tracker. Finally, a warranty is always important, and these can vary considerably from two to five years.
Once your mower has been installed, all you need to do is program it so that it cuts exactly how and when you need it. The height of carts can be set according to the grass sensors’ growth rate on the mower to prevent it from bumping into things, and you can then sit back and watch it No. It’s still important to regularly clean and check your mower, turning it over and assessing the blades for damage and wear and tear. Press the stop button and turn the motor off by pressing the off button. Turn the mower upside down and clean the chassis and blades with a brush or a garden hose if they’re filthy.
Check the blades can pivot freely and brush grass from the wheels and wipe the cover down. Replace worn or damaged blades for the best mon results and low energy usage, making sure to change them all at the same time to ensure a balanced cut. It’s also a good idea to have your mower serviced each year. Dealers can update software as well as clean and replace any worn parts, including batteries. Annual servicing costs alone but check those dealers nearby. Once marinas are finished for the season, store your mower undercover for the winter. Good luck choosing your robotic mower.
