Overview Two weeks ago, I passed by my neighbor’s house and saw that their lawn appeared to be groomed, greener, and healthier than usual. I asked what lawn service provider they hired, but I was surprised that they did the yardwork and the mowing by themselves using the Sun Joe Electric Lawn Mower. He lent me the lawnmower, and I was so excited to use it in my front yard. Last weekend, I did the mowing, and I was amazed at how the product worked.
I have a medium-sized lawn, and the lawnmower worked so well. It has a cutting width of 20 inches which is wider than other electric lawnmowers. Thus, I only made fewer passes, and I could do the job a little bit sooner. My experience with the product last weekend made me want to buy one for myself.

Easy and Convenient to Maneuver
The Sun Joe MJ408E was easy to use, operate, and maneuver. One of its safety features is starting the mower, and you need to press the button and hold the handlebar down. When you release the handle, the machine will likewise stop. This feature enables me to stop the machine when I need to protect the users when there is an accidental start.
Hence, starting it was easy, reliable, and effortless. The lawnmower has seven adjusting heights which can be changed and adjusted easily by pulling the lever in the desired position. It was very convenient to use. I just turned the handle to the position that I wanted.
Lightweight but Effective
The mower is also lightweight. Although it is heavier than other electric lawnmowers, it was straightforward to push. It worked well even in the inclined and slopy part of my lawn. The fewer effort was needed in operating it, but it never compromised the quality of work. The bigger wheels at the back made it easier to operate the mower. Also, trimming the grasses was very easy and convenient because of the metal blade at the bottom. It also has a mulching and side discharging system. I didn’t use the mulcher, but my neighbor told me to remove the rear bagger, and the clippings are chopped up within the chamber.
Quiet, Low-maintenance, and Eco-Friendly
The machine is also quiet and less intimidating. It doesn’t sound like a tractor. It doesn’t emit so much noise. The sound it produced is manageable and did not distract my neighbors. I can use it first thing in the morning without waking my family and neighbors up. Further, since it is powered by electricity, the machine needs low maintenance. It doesn’t need gasoline or oil for it to operate.
I will not be worried about any leak, mess, smell, or fume of the gasoline. Further, this is also eco-friendly because it does not have any carbon emissions. Overall, it performed a great cutting on my grass which is impressive.
Collection Bag
The mower comes with a 14.5 gallon of the collection bag. The bag comes on and off easily. The mower will work with or without the collection bag. I didn’t remove the collection bag throughout my mowing last weekend, and now I realized it was a mistake.
It took me more time to remove, throw the clippings, and put the bagger back in the mower again. The collection bag fills up easily, so I needed to empty it constantly. It is time-consuming to dispose of the grass after the collection bag is full. It took me more time to dispose of it than to mow my lawn.
Cord Management
I used a 100ft 12-gauge extension cord available in my house. It’s exasperating how the cord will come into my way while I’m working. I also tied the device cord and the extension cord to prevent disconnection during use. Thus, it would help if you properly used the cords to make the mowing quicker and less of a hassle because there is always a need to have the cord out of your side.
Tallgrass was hard to remove
When the grass is about 5’’ tall, the mower found it hard to take down. And when mowing, it missed a few cuts. I needed to have several passes before I can finally remove the taller grasses. It was still a great buy, anyway, because having those several passes transformed my lawn into its best shape.
Would I buy this product?
Yes. After I used the lawnmower, I was impressed with its performance. The price is decent and reasonable, but it left my lawn greener and healthier. For a small job, this electric lawn mower did the job extremely well. It also has a better cut quality. I’m leaning towards the electric mower because I hate to deal with gas, oil, smoke, and pull starts.
If I juxtapose this to a cordless mower, the latter is at least twice or thrice the price of this product, and the cordless one can only be used for at most an hour before charging again. However, the performance of the two products is just the same. So, for reasons of practicality and convenience, I will prefer this Sun Joe electric lawnmower. Plus, you can’t beat the price of this mower! I think this is worth it.
Conclusion
I would recommend this product if you have a small to mid-sized lawn. It will perform the task well and will make the job faster and easier. The drawbacks, on the other hand, are manageable. What matters significantly is that the user will get satisfied after using it.
I was pleasantly impressed with the performance of this lawnmower. Our household normally used a gas mower because of how effective it is in cutting down the grass. But with the features of this product, I think this would be a great buy. You no longer have to deal with engine maintenance, gas, smoke, and mess. This can be a great addition to my tool collection.
